Dress Code & Etiquette

Clear guidelines for entering the main sanctum and visiting the 58-foot Shiva statue.

Statue Area vs. Main Temple

If you are only visiting the 58-foot Shiva statue and the outer walkways, the rules are relaxed. Modest casual wear (jeans, t-shirts) is perfectly fine. However, to step inside the Main Temple Sanctum for Darshan, strict traditional Kerala temple attire is strictly enforced.

For Men

  • Traditional Mundu (Dhoti)
  • Shirts must be removed before entering the sanctum
  • Angavastram (shawl) is permitted over the shoulder

For Women

  • Saree or Half-Saree
  • Churidar / Salwar Kameez with Dupatta
  • Long skirts and blouses
  • No modern dresses or short clothing

Strictly Prohibited Inside the Sanctum

Shorts, Bermuda pants, sleeveless tops, ripped jeans, mini-skirts, and tight athletic wear are not permitted. Footwear must be removed and left at the designated counters before entering the temple grounds.
